Police in Devon and Cornwall have got new powers to help victims of domestic violence and abuse.
Officers can now issue a Domestic Violence Protection Notice to perpetrators - in cases where there's unlikely to be any criminal charges - while they're still in custody.
It would stop the abuser evicting victims and their children from their home, entering the property or going within a specified distance of it.
