Drunkenness, drug taking and aggressive behaviour in a Dawlish park can now be tackled, thanks to the first Public Space Protection Order introduced in Devon and Cornwall.
Teignbridge council has worked with the police to bring in the Order which outlines specific behaviour in a designated area which will not be tolerated.
It will enable the police and council officers to take action against a group of people who gather in a hut in The Lawns and have made it a no-go area for the public.
The council says the order doesn't stop people peacefully enjoying a drink with a picnic, and is only aimed at the troublemakers.
