The police helicopter was deployed in the early hours of Sunday morning following reports of an assault in Exeter.
Air crew, who were deployed on another call, directed ground officers to arrest three people wanted in connection with a 'slashing' incident.
The suspects, described as 'youths', were detained at around 4.10am, and are assisting officers with their enquiries.
It was announced last week that the Force helicopter will join the National Police Air Service next year as part of cost-saving measures.
