An Exeter police officer and two civilian staff are due before magistrates today over the death of a local man after he'd been held in the custody cells.
32 year old Thomas Orchard, who suffered from paranoid schizophrenia, was arrested in October 2012 and detained at Heavitree Road police station.
He was later found to be unwell and taken to hospital where he died several days later.
Sergeant Jan Kingshott and two custody detention officers, Simon Tansley and Michael Marsden, are charged with manslaughter and misconduct in public office.
