Devon and Cornwall Police have released a statement, after the local police and crime commissioner answered questions about the public's use of force in the event of a terrorist attack.
The Devon and Cornwall Police and Crime Commissioner was answering questions from the public, when it's claimed she said it would be interesting to explore whether gun owners could help police during a terrorist attack.
In response to Alison Hernandez's comments, the Deputy Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall Police said that during a terrorist attack, highly trained police firearms officers and Special Forces will be deployed to protect communities.
In a statement Paul Netherton said: "Under no circumstances would I want members of the public to arm themselves with firearms ... not least because officers responding would not know who the offenders were and wouldn't have the time to ask."
