Motorists using Exeter's Bridge Road - a congestion hotspot - will face even longer delays for the next few months. .
It's being restricted to one lane in each direction while preparatory work takes place for next year's bridge widening scheme.
The project involves moving utility cables, and installing concrete foundations in the piers of the bridge, which will eventually support a cantilevered cycle and walkway.
That will make it possible for the road to be widened, with two lanes in both directions
