The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital is expected to get back to near normality later today.
Part of the hospital had to be closed as a precaution yesterday because of a gas leak.
Fire crews say a mechanical digger has caused a large gas leak in the road.
Eight wards were evacuated and all non-emergency appointments postponed.
