The Chairman of the Exeter Chiefs Rugby club say he's delighted that the city council has given the go-ahead for his proposed four star hotel at Sandy Park, even though the plan had been recommended for refusal.
The 250 bedroom hotel on land near the rugby ground is part of Tony Rowe's plans to make the most of conference and commercial facilities to keep the club profitable.
The county council had raised objections over the use of Old Rydon Lane for staff access and deliveries to the hotel, and these issues will still have to be resolved.
But Exeter city councillors approved the plan on Monday evening.
