The visitor attraction has secured more than 620 thousand pounds.
The money will be used for the interpretation features inside the centre, which will include a giant rockpool which makes visitors feel the size of small sea creatures, experiencing marine life under different tidal conditions.
Work will start on the site at The Underfleet this summer with the centre opening late in 2015.
