Promises of improvements by the autumn
Hot sticky carriages on GWR trains in which many passengers have to stand won't be fixed this summer.
The company's having trouble on the Exmouth to Barnstaple Avocet line. It says they haven't enough rolling stock, but that come the autumn all should be well. They'll have more rolling stock then.
Councillor Kevin Ball, who chairs the Devon and Exeter Rail Working Group, says he'll make sure they deliver on their promises. "It's not ideal for people who are having problems now, and I have every sympathy with them, but improvements will come. We intend to keep GWR to account. They say they're going to see this through and we'll make sure they do."
