Fisherman taught how to use his VHF radio
Exmouth's RNLI says the speed of its new lifeboat meant it took just 26 minutes to reach a distressed fishing boat nine miles away from the lifeboat station on the seafront.
It was called out on Friday afternoon when a lone fisherman from Torquay called to say his boat had a mechanical failure and he didn't know where he was.
Lifeboat crew not only towed him home - they taught him how to use his VHF radio to call for help, rather than his mobile phone.
