The roll-out of Exeter's street lighting switch-off begins tonight.
The lights will go off between 12.30am and 5.30am in residential streets in Alphington and Cowick - but main roads and walking routes will remain lit.
The consultation on the switch-off will continue for six months - enabling people in those areas to express any concerns to the county council.
