A 18-year old rapist from Tiverton has been jailed after admitting the crime to his victim by text message.
Mark Gooding, who was sixteen at the time, has been sentenced to five and half year in a young offender's institution by Exeter Crown Court for two counts of rape and four of actual bodily harm.
The jury heard that Gooding sent a text message to his victim that read, "I know I hit you and know you had sex with me when you did not want to."
He tied the 17-year-old girl to a roof beam, head-butted her and burned her with a cigarette.
Two actual bodily harm charges were in relation to a separate attack.
