Bomb washes up on beach
Slapton beach is open again after being closed for much of Wednesday afternoon for the bomb squad to destroy a suspicious item.
It's thought to have been a five foot long torpedo. Kingsbridge Police reported it as being a World War Two device. A 100-metre cordon was put in place and the A375, which has only recently reopened after being destroyed by storms earlier in the year, closed to traffic.
Royal Navy explosives experts blew up the bomb in a controlled explosion. The coastguard from Prawle Point and Dartmouth also helped out.
