Royal Mail has released the stats as part of their Dog Awareness Week.
More than 2-thousand incidents were reported nationally last year.
Royal Mail says that although the total number of attacks fell by 8%, there were increases in several areas of the country.
The worst areas for attacks last year were Torquay, Stockport, Oldham, St Albans, Slough, Colchester, Blackburn, Llandudno, Hemel Hempstead and Hull.
Postal workers bitten by dogs have been left with permanent and disabling injuries.
