Train advice ahead of rugby world cup opener

Fewer services to Devon

It might be tricky for rugby fans heading to the Southwest for the Women's Rugby World Cup by train.

CrossCountry is running a reduced service due to strikes, and South Western Railway has fewer trains to Exeter St David's because of speed restrictions.

However, GWR is stepping up with extra trains, including half-hourly services from Exeter to Digby and Sowton, which is great for getting to Sandy Park.

Thousands of spectators are expected to pack out stations before and after Saturday's opening between Italy and France at Sandy Park.

We're being advised to leave early and keep an eye on those travel updates by clicking here.
