Mid Devon residents are being urged to speak out if they don't want to lose their public phone boxes.
BT has announced proposals to remove all 38 payphones in the district, because most people have mobiles and they're not needed any more.
The district council is consulting local residents before responding on a case by case basis, asking whether they're happy to lose their local phone box, or want it to stay - or would like to adopt it.
Some communities elsewhere in Devon have taken over disused phone boxes and are using them as mini-libraries, or for displaying art.
