The MP for Exeter has made a last minute appeal to Devon County Council ..... to reconsider proposals to close its three local children’s homes and stop running youth centres, in its latest round of cuts.
The council says many children are better looked after by foster carers ... and that the youth centres can be run by voluntary groups.
Ben Bradshaw is concerned that withdrawing services from young and vulnerable people will mean many don't get the care and support they need, and is likely to lead to social problems as well as incurring large costs in the long run.
