East Devon primary set to lose a class following cuts

An East Devon primary is set to lose a class from this September because of substantial budget cuts.

Lympstone Primary School met with parents last month, to explain the changes which are a result of education funding cuts.

The school has lost £30,000 in the last financial year which is set to rise to £62,000 this year.

Lympstone has 188 pupils in seven classes, but say that due to the school facing a deficit, they will have to reduce this to six classes which will result in some mixed year groups.

The school have commented in the local press that they are just returning to the same number of classes they had six years ago.
