'No room for complacency' on Exeter's economy

An Exeter business leader says the city's economy may be improving, but local companies can't rest on their laurels.

The latest Chamber of Commerce survey showed the number reporting an increase in sales is the highest it's ever been...  and profit margins are the highest since March 2007.

This week saw the start of later shop opening hours on Thursdays in the city centre - an initiative designed to extend the daytime economy.

The manager of the Guildhall shopping centre Andrew McNeilly says the city's been doing far better than many areas in terms of retail sales - but that won't necessarily continue.
