Repairs to flood-damaged roads to take four years

It'll take another four years to repair the roads damaged by last year's flooding, according to the county council.

Five and a half million pounds worth of work is still outstanding.

Councillors have agreed this week to spend just over two million pounds on repairs in this financial year.. the rest will take place over the next three years.

Roads are being prioritised according to various factors including traffic volumes and whether there are alternative routes.

In cases where roads are moved lower down the priority list, the councillors in those areas will be fully consulted.

The council says the damage has placed a huge demand on its resources, and it will lobby the Government for more funding for highways.
