Low earners unaware they can claim benefits

Exeter citizens advice bureau say many local people could be missing out on financial support, because they don't realise they're eligible to claim benefits.

National research by a charity has found that three quarters of people on low incomes, who were not claiming any welfare support, thought there was nothing available to them.

In fact many could have been entitled to Income Support, Working Tax Credits, housing benefit or other forms of state assistance.
