An Exeter University researcher has won an award for his work studying communities of flamingos.
Paul Rose's research focused on birds in captivity at the Slimbridge wildlife centre in Gloucestershire and has earned him a gold award from a zoological association.
He says it showed that the birds have different personalities, with some being confident and others less outgoing.
He also found they had differing ways of bonding with other flamingos, with some forming lasting friendships and others being more fickle.
The research will be used by centres keeping flamingos in captivity, to help make sure they're happy.
