'Top-slicing' removes cash from local police budget

Devon and Cornwall's police and crime commissioner has expressed his disappointment that the force is to lose two and a half million pounds from its budget next year.


Money's being taken from forces across the country so that they share the cost of national initiatives, which include expanding the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

Tony Hogg predicted the 'top-slicing' at the end of last year and wrote to the policing minister to ask him to reconsider - saying the initiatives shouldn't be funded at the cost of local front-line policing
