The play portrays a group of bright boys navigating through desires for relationships, sports, and university placements, shedding light on faculty competitions and the chaos of teenage years.
Set on A-Level results day in 1980s Sheffield, the story unfolds as eight unruly teenagers achieve outstanding grades, aiming for Oxford and Cambridge.
However, their teachers have conflicting approaches to guiding them.
Alan Bennett said ‘How very pleased I am that The History Boys are still here twenty years on finding a new audience. “Pass it on” is Hector’s message – I hope the playgoers feel the same!’
The show has won more than 30 international awards. The original National Theatre production in 2004 launched the careers of James Corden, Dominic Cooper, Russell Tovey, and Jamie Parker.
