Match Report: PAFC 2-2 ECFC
Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City shared the points, in the Devon derby, at Home Park.
The Pilgrims rescued a dramatic last-minute point against Exeter City as Argyle’s Malachi Boateng struck in the closing stages of an eventful Devon derby.
After a goalless first 45 minutes, in which Argyle created the better chances, Exeter took the lead early in the second period through Reece Cole, who tapped the ball in from close range.
The hosts were gifted an equaliser- Lorent Tolaj placed the ball past Exeter goalkeeper Jack Bycroft.
With just minutes left on the clock, Exeter looked set to claim victory when Jayden Wareham restored their advantage and finished in the top corner late on. City fans were jubilant and knew they were just minutes away from the ‘derby double’ bragging rights.
However, Argyle responded again as Boateng capitalised on poor Exeter City defending- turning the ball into the net and securing the draw.
The full-time score at Home Park was Argyle two, City two.
The point is not ideal for both League One sides, as Argyle set their sights on a play-off place and Exeter fight relegation.
