Exeter City name new assistant manager

Eric Kinder will be moving to Devon to support Matt Taylor.

Eric joins Chris Weale, Andrew Wiseman and Dan Green to complete the new management team for the 2018/19 season.

Eric has had coaching roles with Blackburn Rovers, Preston North End, Carlisle United and until recently Limerick.

City boss Matt Taylor said: “Eric is the experience which I need. He will have a great relationship with the players and will calm everyone down. He’s got the experience in terms of managing, assisting and being head of academy.

“He is passionate about bringing young players through which is a big part of the club. He will assist everything from the first team down to academy level, helping out Aaron Pugh and Wayne Carlisle when needed.

He’s going to be a big part going forward. He has been there and done it at all levels. He’s worked for the Premier League so is obviously highly regarded as a coach and as a person.

He is someone who will keep me on the straight and narrow in my first year. Someone who will help me when I’m not doing things right or making mistakes.”

Eric will be moving to Devon to take up the role from Carlisle.

Matt said: “He was my youth team coach at Preston North End as a kid and we’ve kept in touch since. Every time we’ve played Carlisle we’ve met up and when we’ve trained at Blackburn and I trust him.

“It’s a big commitment to move down from the north west, something I’ve done in the past so I’m going to help him with that. It’s not only a great club to be at, to work at, to play at, but a great area to live in as well.”
