Arrests after Barnstaple car burglary

Theft, criminal damage and offensive weapons charges too

Police were called following reports of a break-in at the Metro Centre Car Hire on Mill Lane, Barnstaple on Bank Holiday Monday in which it is alleged that a Jaguar and Vauxhall Corsa were stolen.

The two vehicles have since been located and returned to their owners. Officers made a number of arrests in connection to this matter and have now charged five people.

Paulius Garbukas aged 18 from Rock Avenue, Barnstaple has been charged with two counts of burglary and is due before Exeter Magistrates Court today (29 August).

Stephanie Mason aged 18 from Roundswell, Barnstaple, Jack Salmon aged 18 from Rock Avenue, Barnstaple, and Aiden Wardell-Lewis aged 20 from Roundswell, Barnstaple have all been charged with three counts of theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of taking without consent, two counts of driving whilst disqualified and one count of criminal damage.

Mason, Salmon and Wardell-Lewis are all due to appear before Barnstaple Magistrates on Friday 28th September.

Jonathan Bowden aged 30 from Crosspark Close, Barnstaple has been charged with two counts of possession of an offensive weapon.

He has since been released on police bail and is due to appear before Barnstaple Magistrates Court on Friday 14th September.
