650 Santas take over Exeter city centre

"Have you seen anyone resembling Father Christmas?"

Tots to seniors run in annual charity fundraiser

Everywhere you turned, there was another one. A Santa here. A Father Christmas there. All gathered first thing on a Sunday morning to raise money for three local charities and have a good time.

The City Community Trust organised Exeter's Santa Run, and with around 650 participants, broke last year's record. Streets around the city centre were closed ahead of shops opening for Christmas trading; and the weather was just about perfect for the two routes, one 2.5k, the other 5k.

Tots in pushchairs vied with agile pensioners, with every age in between, all for a medal and a mince pie at the end.

The Exeter Academy for Deaf Education, Age UK Exeter and Children's Hospice South West all benefited from sponsorship raised, as did other charities nominated by those taking part.
