Appeal after pensioner hit by car

93-year-old has life-threatening injuries

A second major collision on the A3052 Sidmouth Road has left a 93-year-old man in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Emergency services were called at 4.50 p.m. on Wednesday 23 December to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Newton Poppleford's High Street.

The driver of the car, a Ford Fiesta wasn't hurt.

The High Street, a major road running through the East Devon village, was closed for about four hours to allow an examination of the scene to take place and for the vehicle to be recovered.

Officers want any witnesses to contact police on 101, quoting log 753 of 23 December.

The collision came on the same day a man in his twenties from Tiverton was killed in a collision between a car and a lorry in the early hours.
