Kate Bushell was murdered 25 years ago

Devon and Cornwall Police have renewed their public appeal for information to help find the killer of an Exwick school girl 25 years ago.

14-year-old Kate Bushell was walking her neighbour's dog near her home in Exeter. Her body was then found in a field off Exwick Lane by her father. It was later determined that she had died from a knife wound to her throat.

Detective's remain convinced that someone hold the final clue which would bring Kate's killer to Justice and are appealing for them to come forward and break their silence.

Independent charity Crimestoppers are offering a reward of £20,000 for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the offender.

Senior investigating officer, detective inspector Rob Bank, from the major crime investigation team said: “It has now been 25 years since this truly terrible murder but we have never forgotten Kate. We are as committed as ever to bringing the person responsible to justice.

“We appreciate that 25 years is a long time but someone must know what happened that day. For whatever reason they have not come forward but it is not too late to do so now. My hope in making this renewed appeal is to ask once again for that vital piece of evidence we need to trace the killer and bring much-needed closure for Kate’s family.”

Kate's older brother Tim said there wasn't a day that his family didn't remember Kate and "implored" anyone who was yet to come forward to help "apprehend her killer and achieve justice for Kate."

Anyone with information can report it through the major incident public portal by clicking here.

Information can also be passed to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
