He sees League One action instead of Champions League
A Barcelona supporter hoping to watch his team take on Newcastle in the Champions League enjoyed Exeter City play Lincoln in League One instead.
The Spanish man had been hoping to see his team play Newcastle in the Champions League at another St James Park in the north east.
However, he travelled to Devon from London instead turned up at Exeter City's Adam Stansfield stand, to watch the Spanish giants in the last 16 of the European tournament.
It was only when he showed his ticket to staff when he realised his mistake. The man was 366 miles away from his intended destination.
However, he did get to see a game of football, Exeter City staff gifted him a ticket for the game against Lincoln. Exeter City lost 1-0 to the League One leaders.
A statement from Exeter City on social media said: “One of our volunteers came to the office to let us know that this guy had turned up expecting to see FC Barcelona. His English wasn’t great, but from what we could gather, he’d come from London. My guess is he’d put St James Park in his phone and then just followed the directions from there.
“He was pretty gutted and a bit embarrassed. So, we sorted him out a ticket and he got to watch a game at the real St James Park. He’d be welcome back any time.”
It was a tale of two cities and two very different football grounds for an @FCBarcelona fan who turned up at the wrong St James Park last night 🏟️
