Both Exmouth lifeboats helped to rescue a lone sailor on an 'unseaworthy' yacht yesterday.
A passing tug spotted the sailor aboard a 26' yacht in difficulty, two miles south of Exmouth just before midday yesterday.
The vessel had taken on water and suffered engine failure, so both Exmouth lifeboats were launched and towed the sailor into the river Exe.
The man was taken to his mooring off Starcross Pier and safety advice was given after it was discovered that his VHF radio wasn't working.
