Devon teenager takes in atmosphere

Gun salutes in Plymouth and Dartmouth, along with the tolling of church bells across the county, heralded the coronation of the king this weekend.

Many people chose to travel to London to soak in the atmosphere - quite literally on a wet Saturday.

Despite it being a grey and miserable day London was alive with colour and celebration.

No matter what part of the city we walked through (and there was a lot of walking) the streets were adorned with the union flag. People were adorned with union flags.

It was busy. Very busy. Even more so than normal for London, even away from supposedly busy areas.

But it never really felt it. Music came from everywhere.

Walking down from Marble Arch towards Buckingham Palace felt celebratory. The flags of the commonwealth flew proudly and the crowds sang and played music. Children In paper crowns had photos with police officers.

London was the place to be on coronation day.
