There are reports today that supermarket chain, Morrisons, wants to pull out of a deal to build a new store on land at the headquarters of Devon and Cornwall Police in Exeter.
The force had been counting on the millions of pounds from the scheme at Middlemoor to pay for a new forty cell custody facility.
However Morrisons are cutting back on new stores across the country to save money and the Sunday Telegraph says Exeter is one of them.
A spokesperson for the force says that because of the commercial sensitivity and the contractual position between Devon and Cornwall Police and Morrison’s, they can't comment. Meanwhile the supermarket chain say they don't comment on speculation.
