East Devon council's under fire for a proposal to terminate the hire agreements for beach huts and make people bid for a five-year lease.
The council says it's proposing the change because there are currently 300 people on the waiting list, and it wants to give more people the chance to rent a hut or site.
Those who've had their hut for less than four years will be able to buy the lease directly.
Some critics have taken to Twitter to brand the scheme disgusting.
