A mid-Devon district councillor has resigned from the Conservative party group after being accused of assaulting two people.
Councillor John Squire, who serves the Bow ward near Crediton, has NOT been arrested or charged with any offence.
He's alleged to have committed the assaults at an address in Crediton in July.
The council says he will remain as an independent councillor until the matter has been dealt with by the courts.
