County goes to the polls in council elections

Devon's residents are voting today for who'll run their county council for the next four years. All sixty-two seats on the local authority are up for grabs.

Devon County Council is responsible for 85% of all locally-provided public services in the County, including schools, roads and social care - with a total annual budget of more than 1.1 billion pounds a year.

It's currently controlled by the Conservatives, who are fielding a candidate in each of the 62 wards.

UKIP is battling in 61 wards, Labour in 59 and the Lib Dems in 57... while the Green Party are putting forward 49 candidates. There are also 17 independents.. and one candidate from the BNP who is standing for the Priory & St Leonards seat in Exeter.

Also standing are one Liberal, four candidates from the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition, and one Communist Party candidate
