There are calls for more homes at an affordable rent to be provided in Devon after the housing and homelessness situation here was described as critical by the charity Shelter.
They've welcomed the news that Teignbridge council has been given 100 thousand pounds to tackle homelessness by bringing empty properties back into use, which will include some houses in Dawlish.
The council will work with developers, and private landlords, to refurbish dilapidated buildings and rent them out to those in need.
