Devon mother jailed after son's death

Tyler Peck was just 15

15-year old Tyler Peck was found at Holly Strawbridge's home in Salcombe last February.  He died from an overdose of morphine drug Oramorph and Gabapentin. His 34-year old mother was found guilty of supplying Class-A drugs to another child under 16 and two counts of child cruelty, and  sentenced to 10 years in prison.

A spokesperson for the NSPCC in the South West of England says: “Strawbridge should have been there to help and protect her son but instead she supplied him with a lethal cocktail of drink and drugs that resulted in his tragic death.

“It is difficult to comprehend how she could have behaved in such a way and it is absolutely right that she has been brought to justice for this horrendous act of child cruelty.”

Any young person can contact Childline on 0800 1111 or childline.org.uk. Adults concerned about a child’s safety can contact the NSPCC Helpline 0808 800 5000 or nspcc.org.uk. Both are free and confidential.
