Devon MPs on Brexit vote

It was the first Saturday sitting of the Commons since the '80s

MPs have backed a move to delay Boris Johnson's Brexit deal until the necessary legislation is passed, as Parliament met on a weekend for the first time in 37 years.

The Prime Minister had appealed to all political parties to back his agreement and end a "painful chapter".

In Devon, Conservative MPs Neil Parish, Peter Heaton-Jones, Hugo Swire and Kevin Foster all expressed support for the deal, whilst Newton Abbot's Anne Marie Morris told a local newspaper she was 'minded' to support it.

However, Exeter’s Labour MP Ben Bradshaw has called the deal a ‘disaster’ and Totnes’s Dr Sarah Wollaston, who quit the Conservatives over Brexit, will also vote against when the vote eventually takes place, possibly on Tuesday.
