Proposals don't make government shortlist
Two new towns planned for Devon won't be going ahead.
The government has narrowed a shortlist of locations from 12 to seven - and thrown out proposals for Marlcombe, off the Sidmouth Road in East Devon, and another for an area in Plymouth.
When it made it to the original shortlist last year, Plymouth City Council leader Tudor Evans said it was a huge moment - and that the plans were rooted in what the community needed.
Marlcombe was chosen from three locations in East Devon.
The government says both areas will receive support through other means.
