Devon murder investigation launched

Dead man found at property in Wembury

A murder investigation is underway following the suspicious death of a man in Wembury, Plymouth.

Officers and paramedics were called around 10.15 a.m. on Thursday 17 December following concerns for the welfare of a man at an address in Hawthorn Drive. When police arrived, they found a man dead at the scene. Formal identification is yet to be carried out. Detectives from Devon and Cornwall Police’s major crime investigation team are looking into the circumstances of his death.

Detective chief inspector Rachael Bentley said: “People can expect to see an increased level of police activity in and around the property in the coming days. We are appealing for anyone who may have information which could assist with our investigation to get in touch.

*We would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard any suspicious behaviour around the Hawthorn Drive area between Sunday 13 December and Thursday 17 December.” A cordon remains in place at the address and house-to-house enquiries are being conducted in the area.
