Students from Devon are joining others across England as they open their A level results. Exeter college and Queen Elizabeth’s school are just two of those celebrating a successful set of figures.

Exeter college students excelled with a pass rate of 99.6% which is more than the national percentage of 97.2% with 25 A level subjects had 100% pass rate.

Principle and chief executive John Larmay said,” I would like to congratulate the class of 2023, who despite not sitting GCSE exams and having a turbulent final two years of school, have navigated these challenges and shown commitment, skill and tenacity to achieve truly excellent results.”
Exeter college student Joshua Dargan says,” The last two years have gone so quickly and been amazing. The people and the learning – together they make learning fun. Even though you only know some teachers for a year, you get a personalised learning experience. I loved discussing world economic affairs with my teachers. The last two years have been a real highlight of my life”.

Queen Elizabeth’s school had 27* of their entries being awarded A* or A grades, 51% being awarded A* or -B grades and 79% being awarded a grade of C or above.

Paula Smith, Headteacher at QE, said; “Huge congratulations to all our Sixth Formers who have received their A Level results today. Yet again, despite the difficulties of recent years, our students have achieved a wonderful set of results that will give them a strong foundation for their next steps in higher education or employment. It was a joy to see so many receiving well deserved excellent results and we are so proud of the amazing young people they have become. QE Sixth Form is a very special community where students support each other, and we have expert teachers who really know and understand them. It has been a joint effort on the part of students, their families, teachers and the Sixth Form team - thank you to everyone who has contributed to the success of our students during the seven years that they have been with us".
