Devon's NHS pleased with 'Dry January' success

Devon's NHS says it's delighted that so many people are taking part in 'Dry January' - when they try not to touch alcohol for a month.

The service says alcohol is one of the biggest contributing factors to ill health in Devon, and also leads to crime and disorder, domestic violence, and social inequalities.

Jackie Ballard - the chief executive of Alcohol Concern - says research has found those that give up for one month, reduce their intake long term.
