He was banned from driving for 20 months
A detective constable working for Devon and Cornwall Police has been dismissed without notice after being found guilty of gross misconduct.
In September 2021, the officer appeared at Bodmin Magistrates Court and pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. As a result, he was disqualified from driving for 20 months and was fined.
On Wednesday 29 June 2022, a panel concluded that detective constable Daniel Arnold had breached the expected standards of professional behaviour - they determined that he would be dismissed without notice.
Head of Professional Standards, Detective Superintendent Paul Kessell said: “We expect our officers to uphold the standards of professional behaviour at all times, while on and off duty.
“His behaviour brought discredit upon the police service and could undermine public confidence.
“Such behaviour will not be tolerated within policing and the decision made by the panel was that the officer should be dismissed without notice.”
