They eventually waddle off
A raft of ducks on the southbound section of the M5 between Cullompton and Exeter on Thursday morning had motorists in a flap.
The mysterious mallards were reported to have appeared around 7am, with drivers diverting around the drakes and ducks.
It being an offence to walk down a motorway, highways officers went to take a look but by 7.40am the ducks had done a runner. The road was clear and traffic flowing normally.
With the absence of feathers on the road, no ducks are thought to have been injured during their motorway adventure.
