He falls in a stream in Exford
An elderly horse enjoying an afternoon in the summer sunshine has been rescued by the fire service after falling in a stream in Exford, North Devon.
The 30-year-old, 16-hand tall horse (that's about five feet four), being trapped, needed the help of a specialist fire-service rescue team from Barnstaple along with an animal rescue tactical advisor.
Fire crews from Barnstaple we joined by more help from Minehead and Porlock, as well as a vet who sedated the horse to keep it calm during the ordeal.
The horse was rescued using a manual method with strops and ropes and was still under sedation when crews retrieved left him in the care of his owner and the vet.
