Bideford College, a school in Devon, said their exchange students thought the school bell was an earthquake warning.

On 12th January 2018, Bideford College welcomed 9 Chilean students from Antofagasta.
They came to North Devon to experience Britsh culture and immerse themselves in the language, said the school.
The year 10 Hispanic students spent two hours discussing the similarites and diferences between the two countries, learning about how they spend their free time and what they do when they are in schools.
A light “heart atack” was had by the visitors when they heard the school bell as for them this is the sound of an imminent Earthquake or Tsunami. At the time it was happening, they ducked for cover. They laughed it of but the students experienced first-hand how quick and well trained they were at getng themselves in a safe place.
