Restocking underway
Exeter City Council says it's delighted that the House of Fraser department store in the High Street has been saved from closure.
It's been a difficult few months for the chain - after Sports Direct owner Mike Ashley bought it last summer.
After intially being on a list of branches to stay open, the new owner changed his mind - and closing down signs appeared before Christmas.
Rumours have circulated that he would replace the Exeter store with Sports Direct - and more recently others have said it was changing into a salon.
Now the closing down signs have gone - and today, it's been confirmed that they've reached an agreement with the landlord to stay as a House of Fraser. They'll now be restocking with new products.
Exeter City Council says it's been working behind the scenes for the past few months, but couldn't say anything until Monday.
